Because of the many changes we are experiencing as a result of the sanitary and economic crisis of the corona pandemic, we are all effectively experiencing a situation of new beginnings.

For this reason, the Ministry of Education invites children, classes and teachers, if they so wish, to take part in the Journées du livre et du droit d'auteur 2020 on the theme "En neien Ufank – Et si on redessinait le monde?‘‘

In concrete terms, this means that they can produce works on the motto "Et si on redessinait le monde?‘‘ What if we imagine a new world - a fairer or healthier world... or - what we would not want - an unjust and unfree world?

What is changing in our lives because of the current situation? What will life "after" be like, for individuals and for society, here in the country and around the world?

The poetic and hopeful children's book "Et si on redessinat le monde?" published by the editions rue du monde shows how children with optimism imagine a new and better world, a world where there is more respect for others and for nature.

Rewriting fairy tales - Writing new fairy tales

We all know fairy tales, usually from a very young age. They exist in all cultures and languages. Often parents tell them to their children at home.

We know that the wolf is the bad guy, the fox is clever, the princess is beautiful and innocent...

Meanwhile there are a number of books that play with these ideas and conceptions. Suddenly Little Red Riding Hood is the brave one and the wolf is a clumsy one.

Pupils or even whole classes can look at such variations and tell their stories.

But they can also invent a new fairy tale, either with characters that one already knows from fairy tales (they put them in another context, give them other characteristics, ...) or they rewrite the fairy tale completely.

The children can also simply invent a new fairy tale: smaller children can draw and tell it, older children can write and stage it. They can also translate it into other languages or present it musically...

The children can also discover new fairy tales, for example from other languages and cultures.
